BRANDING PROJECT
GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION
Project
Corporate Identity and content creation for the launch of the BBC's new Channel Y (rebranding focused on Generation Z and Alpha).
Year
June 2020.
Description
This project aimed to rebrand the BBC in preparation for the launch of Channel Y, a new channel aimed at Generation Z and Alpha. Channel Y leverages 5G technology to offer a personalized and interactive viewing experience that includes faster access to the BBC archive and virtual reality content.
The rebranding process involved changing the channel's name from “BBCme” to “Channel Y,” emphasizing youth and personalization. The logo features a split “Y” symbolizing the brand's two key offerings: content and delivery. As for the corporate colors, red and white were chosen for a bold visual identity. The advertising highlights the channel's virtual reality offerings with immersive experiences. It is worth mentioning that the “Y” gesture was used because it also refers to the sign language of today's youth, taking the brand to a cool place for them. Finally, merchandising includes compact Bluetooth-enabled virtual reality goggles, designed to be comfortable and portable.
Overall, the Y Channel is set to revolutionize BBC content, offering a cutting-edge experience tailored to younger viewers.
